1942 Lakester Tank Details

Tommy Hilfiger / Old Crow Lakester
Bonneville Belly Tank Lakester Rolling Speed Art, built by Old Crow Speed Shop for a Tommy Hilfiger advertising campaign, Merging Speed and Style.

Incredible work of art, of a 40’s era style tank race car.

Opportunity to own this one of a kind iconic piece of art, merging Style and Speed.

This tank is made out of a real United States Air Force P-38 drop tank. It has a 1932 Ford front spring, and there is no engine or transmission.

The P 38 tank itself is very rare because it has a flange to bolt the upper and lower halves together. Usually, on the small P 38 tanks, they are welded together. But this one is like the large tanks.

The type of racecar that set land speed records at Bonneville Salt Flats during Speed Week, or El Mirage.

Put the piece of rolling art under a large glass table, hang it from the ceiling or wall, corner of the room, in your garage; the possibilities are endless with this race car since it is very light and small.

I can envision this race car under a 1-inch piece of glass that sits atop the wheels/tires, with truck piston spacers on top of the tires, which would be an incredible dining room table, conference room table, office desk, or at the entrance of a business. Feel free to talk to me about this. Endless possibilities.

The body is only 28 inches wide, and 12 feet long. The wheels stick out farther.

A unique piece of art, with a great story; and Tommy Hilfiger catalogs to go with it.
